3D Digital Map of the Catacombs - DWRZ - Dim. 17 Sep 2006 I've seen a few videogames that have the catas in them... they are not like the real thing at all, and done rather poorly. I was thinking, however, of making a computerized map of the GRS, perhaps using a game like Half-Life (widely available, doesnt' require too powerful a system). It wouldn't be for playing the actual game, but for simulating the Catas 100%, 1:1 scale, digitally, using photos taken directly from the Catas for texture. Obviously there would be some severe limitations, but I think on the whole it would be an interesting result. Has anyone attempted this before? Any ideas/comments/suggestions/help? Many thanks, DWRZ Re: 3D Digital Map of the Catacombs - Neuromancien - Dim. 17 Sep 2006 DWRZ a écrit :It wouldn't be for playing the actual game why not? it could be really fun. - celpif - Dim. 17 Sep 2006 There is enough element to obtain a serious gameplay with the HL engine. Your idea sounds good, but it's lot of work, mate...and we're mostly very lazy here. - Capello - Dim. 17 Sep 2006 celpif a écrit :There is enough element to obtain a serious gameplay with the HL engine. There is enough dick heads who hang around, crews, forgotten stuff to find/use, dodgy areas to visit, tracts or maps to find, buddies, fumigene, low ceilings, water, cops, to avoid ( ...or not), and so much work to do/open (places, exits), so much beer to drink and weed to smoke. Anyway, game designer is a real job ain't it? - Oxs - Lun. 18 Sep 2006 Good idea David, If you have time to make it, i'll be happy to play with it ;p - celpif - Lun. 18 Sep 2006 I had this project few years ago, with same concept using Valve Software's engine (which is pretty good). but it stayed a project....
